PURPOSE:To provide a pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive recording paper comprising a supporting layer containing a specific fluoran derivative as an electron- donating color former which is capable of forming dark black color by the addition of a color developing agent and is excellent in storage stability, color forming capacity, light resistance and water resistance. CONSTITUTION:To prepare a pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive recording paper comprising a supporting layer containing, as an electron-donating color former, a fluoran derivative of formula II[wherein R<1> is (halogen- or alkyl-substituted) phenyl, phenylalkyl (wherein the nucleus is halogen- or methyl-substituted), cycloalkyl; R<2> is C1-8 alkyl, phenylalkyl wherein the nuclues is halogen- or methyl-substituted; or groups of formula II, III or IV are formed by R<1> and R<2>; p is 4, 5, 6; R<3> is C1-8 alkyl, cycloalkyl, C8-10 alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkoxyalkyl, phenylalkyl (wherein the nucleus is halogen- or methyl-substituted), C2-8 alkenyl, tetrahydrofurfuryl, furufuryl, cyanoethyl, carbamidoethyl, carboalkoxyethyl], e.t., a compound of formula V. |
