<p>PURPOSE:To protect optical fibers from steam transmitted through O rings, by providing a tightly sealed thin metallic bellows between both end faces of a joint chamber where the optical fiber connection part is stored. CONSTITUTION:A contractible and expansible thin metallic bellows 21 which stops steam transmitted through O rings 16 and 17 is provided between end face plates 2a and 2b of a joint chamber. A soldering part 22 of the bellows 21 is worked preliminarily in a factory, and a soldering part 23 is soldered after a prescribed connection work for optical fibers, and the end face plate 2b is pressed into a joint ring 3' and is fixed by a bolt 14, and an outer ring 7 is fixed by a clamp ring 6, thus completing the assembly. As a result, steam transmitted through O rings 16 and 17 is stopped by the bellows 21 and does not reach optical fibers, and thus, the lowering of the mechanical strength of optical fibers is prevented to obtain a highly airtight joint.</p> |
