In a machine for folding and laying flat folding-box blanks, provision is made for only a central pair of conveyor belts to be used in order to convey the folding-box blanks through the folding station. By contrast, the folding of the lateral sections of the folding-box blanks is effected by conveyor belts running to the side of the central pair of conveyor belts and engaging under the folding box, these advantageously being supported at the rear by guide plates. To facilitate the folding operation, folding blades are provided in the intake region (up to about a folding angle of 120 DEG ) pressing from above on the folding edges, the sections of the folding-box blanks which are to be bent downwards being bent around the bottom edge of the folding blades by the increasing constriction of the folding belts. The special advantages of this machine, which is of very simple structural design, are its low production price and the fact that it can be operated and converted to various folding-box formats in a very short time even by unskilled labour. |
