Veneer edge of solid-wood veneer

A veneer edge of solid-wood veneer has at lease one chipless slit and/or a notch which establish predetermined breaking lines, along which the veneer edge can be folded. A backing layer is advantageously fastened to the underside of the veneer edge so that each slit and notch can be made through the full material thickness of the veneer and the veneer strips resulting from this remain fixed to the backing layer. The transition seam, formed by the slit and by side faces of the resulting strips, and the backing layer in the area of the transition seam are adapted by a colouring agent to the colouring of the surface of the veneer.
