An ascent aid for skis, in particular downhill skis, is characterised by at least one spike which is provided with an engagement edge (9), can be lowered from a position of rest into an operative position, in which its engagement edge projects downwards over the running surface (8) of the ski, and can be raised from the operative position into the position of rest, in which it is raised above the running surface (8) of the ski. In the operative position, the spike is blocked at least against the forces and moments acting on it during the ascent. <IMAGE>
