Protective cap for child-resistant closure

For a child-resistant closure which, in conjunction with a normal screw closure cap, prevents the closure being opened by children, whereas ordinary users, even older people, can open the closure without difficulty, a protective cap is proposed, having a screw cap (2) made of plastic for bottle-type containers (3), in which case the screw cap (2) can be screwed by an internal thread (4) onto a pouring part (6) of the container (3) provided with an external thread (5) and is provided with approximately axially parallel gripping ribs (7). Adjoining an upper lid part (8) is a cylindrical and/or conical shell (10), whose inside (15) is of smooth construction. At least one cam edge (14), gripping below the lower edge (13) of the screw cap (2), is provided at the lower edge (12) of the shell (10). The inside diameter of the shell (10) is greater than the outside diameter of the screw cap (2). The construction is such that the protective cap (1) is freely rotatable relative to the screw cap (2) and optionally operable unlocking means are provided for pulling-off or springing-off the protective cap (1) from the screw cap (2). The protective cap (1) proposed can optionally be connected at a later date to any desired screw cap (2). For unlocking, the upper lid part (8) has a centrally arranged unlocking dome which is elastically displaceable relative to the cylindrical or conical smooth shell (10) in such a way that, under axial pressure on the unlocking dome (8), a cam edge (14) slides over the lower edge (13) of the screw cap (2). <IMAGE>
