For determining the time delay in the actuation of the throttle valve (2) of a carburettor an accelerator sensor (15) is mounted in a noise-transmitting connection on a carburettor part (3) participating in swivel movements of the throttle valve (2), preferably by means of a permanent magnet. The variation over time of the output peak of the acceleration sensor (15) is recorded in order to determine the time delay. <IMAGE>
