Swivel joint for a hood for releasably attaching the hood on a housing, having a lever mechanism under spring tension, as represented for example in Fig. 4. The said lever mechanism allows the hood to be raised while taking the strain of its weight and, with the raising, draws the swivel axis of the joint forwards by positive action in such a way that the rear upper edge of the hood does not protrude beyond the housing, seen in the vertical direction.
