Process and device for trimming and guiding uncured tread strips to the drum of a tyre-building machine

A novel process for trimming and guiding uncured tread strips to the drum of tyre-building machines provides for the accommodation of the cut-to-length and ready-prepared tread strips each individually in dimensionally rigid material carriers in which they remain until they run directly onto the drum. All handling or manual transfer is eliminated, so that on one hand the monotonous and relatively difficult physical work which is otherwise necessary is avoided and on the other hand there is at the same time also a significant homogenization and improvement of the quality of the final pneumatic tyres. The invention also includes the advantageous design and control of a storage apparatus receiving a multiplicity of such material carriers in continuous passage.
