The aim is for a label (8) on a film cartridge (1) or film cassette which contains information on the kind of film provided in the cartridge (1) or cassette to be visible through a window (6) on the camera side without scattered light passing onto the film located in the camera. For this purpose, the label (8) is surrounded by light-tight ribs (10) or grooves which together with means (11) on the camera side form a light-tight labyrinth. The window (6) of an associated camera (4) is surrounded for this purpose with light-tight grooves (11) or ribs which are complementary to the light-tight ribs (10) or grooves of the cartridge (1). Moreover, the cartridge (1) or cassette has a light-sealing and fixing plate (15) which is to be turned to face the corresponding narrow side (13) of the camera and has edges (17) which project in the manner of ribs over the cartridge (1). Provided in the cartridge chamber (3) of an associated camera (4) are grooves (20) which are complementary to the edges (17) and form a further labyrinth in conjunction with the edges (17) engaging in them. <IMAGE>
