Method and device for cooling and cleaning metal castings

In a method for cooling and cleaning metal castings produced in sand moulds, the casting is, after being shaken out from the sand mould, first of all subjected to preliminary blasting with continuous controlled changing of its position, subjected during and/or after this procedure to a cooling medium and finally subjected to finish-blasting. Reheating of the casting by adhering residual sand is thereby avoided. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a preliminary blasting device (3), at least one cooling device (12 - 14) and a finish-blasting device (16), through which the casting passes in a certain relative position but with a continuous change in its own position. <IMAGE>
