The play device is a puzzle toy with balls, which is intended to develop logical thinking and combination skill. The playing surface of the play device is formed by the circumferential walls of a plurality of discs (10, 20, 40) which are rotatable relative to one another and in the outer walls of which are provided hollowed-out grooves (12, 22, 42) offset relative to one another. In specific rotary positions of the discs (10, 20, 40), the grooves (12, 22, 42) in the individual discs are aligned with one another. A ball (30) is located in each groove of each disc. In the lowest disc (10), a ball space can be freed by pressing a ball into the interior of the disc (10). As a result of the rotation of the discs (10, 20, 40) and as a result of the movement of the balls (30) along the grooves aligned with one another, free ball space can be brought into any position. Accordingly, the individual balls on the playing surface can also be rotated and displaced into any position. When the free ball space arrives again at the location of the pressed-in ball, this ball takes up its original place in the playing surface again under the effect of a compression spring. The object of the game is, for example, to arrange balls of the same colour next to one another in the respectively mutually aligned grooves (12, 22, 42) of the discs (10, 20, 40). <IMAGE>
