In a washing machine, in particular a dish-washing machine, in order inevitably to shut off the water supply hose (7) against the pressure of the fresh-water pipe (2) when the washing machine has been switched off and to set it to ambient pressure, provision is made for the input of the hose (7) to be connected to a two-way shut-off device (3), as a result of which the hose (7) can be connected selectively to the fresh-water line (2, position 1) or to an overflow (position 2), and a device (14) which is arranged inside the machine and can be actuated by water pressure is connected directly to the end of the hose (7) on the machine side via a pressure pipe (13), the device (14) having a locking element (15) which can be actuated by water pressure in such a way that said locking element prevents the door (16) being opened as long as the hose (7) is connected to the fresh-water pipe (2) via the two-way shut-off device. Different designs of the device (14) are specified, for example with a piston/cylinder arrangement or with a bellows. <IMAGE>
