An ink temperature control device for an ink jet printer has a first ink temperature sensor which is arranged next to, but at a distance from an ink expulsion head, and a second ink temperature sensor which is attached to a heater. The two sensors have the same temperature coefficient and a voltage applied to the heater is controlled by outputs of the two sensors in accordance with a difference between a reference voltage and a composite voltage. The voltage applied to the heater is thus controlled with reference to an apparent reference voltage which controls a difference between an output voltage of the first sensor and a reference voltage which produces a predetermined temperature, and with reference to an output voltage of the second sensor. The two sensors are arranged in front of and behind the heater. The differential voltage is applied to the heater after said voltage has been amplified by a power element. The power element is attached to a mounting component for a filter which is arranged directly in front of the first sensor.
