Sintered carbide alloy consisting of two phases of a hard phase comprising at least a compound with the crystal structure of the single hexagonal MC-type, where M denotes metal and C denotes carbon, chosen from the group consisting of mixed carbides, carbon nitrides and carboxy-nitrides of molybdenum and tungsten, and a binder phase consisting of at least one element chosen from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and nickel, where the hard phase is produced by carburising of a Mo, W alloy obtained by reduction of the oxides of molybdenum and tungsten with a particle size of 1 μm at the most, yielding particles with mean particle size of at least 3μm and exhibiting a homogeneous molybdenum:tungsten content in the particles, and which has a rough composition within the shaded area ABCDEA in figure 1. <IMAGE> |
