The invention relates to an apparatus for the formation of wadding for feeding card machines, which consists of a fibre-preparation unit and of one or more fleece-web or wadding-web formation units which are each connected to the preparation unit via a transport line having a suction blower for the forward transportation of the material. The preparation unit contains a container (2) having a funnel and a suction basket (3), pairs of rollers (7, 8) rotating at variable speed and introducing the material into a chamber (9), and a winder (11), rotating in the chamber (9), for opening and dividing the material. The chamber (9) is assigned the suction mouths of the transport lines (18) and the suction mouth of a recovery line (24) for reintroduction of the excess material, which is connected to the inlet of the condenser or of the suction basket (3). <IMAGE>
