PURPOSE:To cut a separating character in the same system as a non-separating character, and to simplify a processing circuit, etc., by constituting the first line of a slip of a character line consisting of only a non-separating printing type character, limiting the second line to a character line containing a separating printing type character, and cutting the second line in accordance with its position. CONSTITUTION:The first line of a slip 1 is constituted of the first printing type character line 11 consisting of only a non-separating printing type character, the second line is constituted of the second printing type character line 12 containing a separating character, and they are scanned and read simultaneously by a scanning circuit 2. A character line image of its read 2 line portion is stored in a line buffer memory 3, the character line image against the character line 11 is cut by one character eacy by a non-separating character cutting circuit 6, its cut position is stored in a cut position storing circuit 7, the cut character line image is transmitted to a pattern memory 4, and a character is recognized by a printing type character recognizing circuit 5. In this way, when cutting the character line 12 of the second line, a cut position from the circuit 7 is read out in order, said character line is cut by the circuit 6 in accordance with its cut position, and the processing circuit and program processing procedures are simplified. |
