The invention relates to an insulating handle for cooking vessels, having a handle holder which can be mounted on the vessel wall and a handle body which covers said handle holder, can be attached by means of at least one screw and can be tightened by a wedge effect. In a known insulating handle, a conical shank section of a screw interacts with the edges of an elongate hole, arranged on the handle holder and extending tapering away from the vessel wall, for pulling the handle body onto the vessel wall. A counter-thread for the screw is embedded in the handle body in the form of a nut. This type of handle attachment is expensive since a special screw with a conical shank section is required, and the nut with the counter-thread has to be worked fixedly in the handle body. When the nut is embedded prior to casting or injection-moulding of the handle body, the insertion of the nut reduces the production speed. The object of the invention is to provide an insulating handle of the type described which can be produced economically and assembled in a simple manner. The object is achieved in that the counter-thread for the screw is mounted on the handle holder, and in that either the screw and the counter-thread run obliquely relative to the vessel wall and/or there are arranged pressure and counter-pressure surfaces which interact on the handle holder and handle body and are inclined relative to the vessel wall. The counter-thread or an inclined section can be mounted in a simple manner during the production of the handle holder and a pressure surface can readily be moulded onto the handle body.
