The use of compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R is a straight-chain, branched or cyclic C1-C19-alkyl radical which may optionally be substituted by hydroxyl or C1-C4-alkoxy groups, C6-C10-aryl, C1-C4-alkyl-C6-C10-aryl or hydrogen, R1 is a linear or branched C1-C10-polymethylene radical whose carbon chain may contain oxygen or sulphur atoms if R is alkyl, and R2 is R or a C1-C10-acyl radical, as masticating agents for natural and/or synthetic rubber latex.
