In order to construct a three-dimensional heat exchange member, which can easily be adapted to different tasks, in a simple way in the case of a tubular heat exchanger, in particular for use in a container which can be filled with a heat exchange (transfer) fluid, which has flexible, coiled tubes for a second heat exchange fluid which are arranged at a distance from one another and are formed by coherent longitudinal regions of a flexible battery (coil), it being the case that the position of the longitudinal regions relative to one another is fixed by rigid, rod-like retaining means, which are arranged parallel to one another and perpendicular to the coiling direction of the battery or by strips (bands) extending in the coiling direction of the battery, the retaining means are formed by supporting cross struts (1, 2) which cross one another diagonally and on which there are arranged supporting longitudinal rails (3, 4, 5, 6) extending in parallel, and the battery (7) is mounted on the supporting cross struts (1, 2) and the supporting longitudinal rails (3 to 6) in the fashion of a spiral helix and succeeding one another vertically. In a further embodiment, the battery sections (8) can be arranged like discs in the shape of a spiral, and it is possible to provide in the vertical horizontal discs succeeding one another in which battery sections are arranged in the shape of a spiral. It is possible by means of this construction for the length of the battery and the arrangement of the individual sections to be selected arbitrarily, and the battery surfaces are offset in the radial and axial directions of flow through the heat exchanger in such a way that the sections are not situated, or are situated only to a slight extent, in the flow shadows of the adjacent sections. <IMAGE>
