The invention relates to a circular saw bench for cutting firewood, having special safety features, and is based on the object of constructing a compact device for high output, operating reliability and safety against accidents. This object is achieved according to the invention in that the wood support (3) firmly attached to the saw frame (1) is inclined slightly rearwards and is raised there in the form of a sector of a circle, the centre of this sector of a circle (4) being situated in the extension of the wood support (3) and being identical to the pivot of a shaft (12) which is mounted on the saw frame (1) so as to be rotatable to the left and to the right and carries the entire saw assembly consisting essentially of two side pieces (16) carrying the saw blade (14) and the drive motor (9), of the V-belt and of a rear saw-blade guard (15) and an upper saw-blade guard (21) with operating handle (22), and a movable saw-blade guard (17) on both sides, which, in the starting position, covers the part of the saw blade (14) required for cutting and is mounted freely rotatably on the shaft (12). In the cutting operation, the saw blade (14) is guided by means of the handle (22) to the wood (24), the saw-blade guard (17) on both sides automatically firmly holding the wood (24) with its claws (20) thanks to the tension spring (13). <IMAGE>
