An insole is described, in particular for open-joint shoes, which consists of a pressed-fibre layer and which is split horizontally into two part layers from the heel region as far as approximately the ball region, there being arranged between the part layers a non-deformable plastic layer, possibly with enclosed joint spring, and there being formed in the lateral edge region between the part layers regions which are resilient in themselves and yield to vertical pressure, and in particular these regions being formed in the intermediate non-deformable plastic layer by perforations or cutouts. <IMAGE>
