PURPOSE:To enable uniform application of lubricating oil and to improve heat resisting and cooling effects by inserting intermediate platy felt between upper platy felt and lower platy felt and fitting a lubricating member to the intermediate platy felt. CONSTITUTION:When a roll 11 of a hot rolling mill is rotated to start rolling of a rolled steel 13, cooling water is sprayed from a cooling water spray nozzle 12 onto the roll face 11, and moisture on the surface of the roll 11 is removed by upper platy felt 2. A lubricating member 9 comes into contact with the roll face 11 and applies oil on the roll face 11. The oil is spread on the surface of the roll by lower platy felt 3. Moisture removed by the upper platy felt 2 soaks into deep part of the felt, and permeates into the lower platy felt 3 through a permeable part provided to a part of lapped face of the intermediate platy felt 4, to protect the lower platy felt from radiant heat. Moisture soaked into the upper platy felt 2 does not permeate into the lubricating member as it is insulated by an adhesive 7, and density of the impregnated oil is not diluted. |
