Use of nipecotic acid or guvacine derivatives for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of postischemic neurodegenerative disorders

A method of treating a neurodegenerative dementia such as Alzheimer Disease by administering a neuroprotective amount of a lipophilic derivative of nipecotic acid (piperidine-3-carboxylic acid) or guvacine (1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxylic acid) is disclosed.
