PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce the eccentricity of a shaft and to stabilize rotation by providing annular grooves in the circumferential direction only on the low pessure side of one or both of the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of an annular sealing member. CONSTITUTION:Annular grooves 7 are provided on the low pressure side on the inner peripheral surface of an annular sealing member in the circumferential direction. The distribution of pressure differences in such a structure is given by a dotted line 8D that decreases linearly in the same way as a solid line 8 A on the high pressure side while the pressure difference does not severely change on the low pressure side due to the effect of the annular grooves. Consequently, it is possible to increase restoring force and to reduce the eccentricity of the shaft. |
