POWER GENERATION BY RECOVERY OF SENSIBLE HEAT OF COKE OVEN GAS

PURPOSE:To recover heat by recovering high-temp. sensible heat of a coke oven gas by separate heat exchange in the first and second cooling zones by the use of a heavy tar and aq. ammonia as a heat exchange medium, respectively, is said first and second cooling zones, and to use the recovered heat for power generation. CONSTITUTION:In a coke oven gas passage, a riser outlet bent 1 and a dry main 2 are equipped with a spray nozzle 4 for injecting a heavy tar to constitute the first cooling zone. An off-take main 5 or a suction main 8 is equipped with a spray nozzle 7 for injecting aq. ammonia to constitute the second cooling zone. A low-boiling working fluid such as flon for power generation is subjected to heat exchange with heated aq. ammonia. The cooled aq. ammonia is recycled to the second cooling zone. The preheated working fluid is heated by heat exchange with primarily cooled heavy tar and converted to steam, which drives a power generating turbine. The heavy tar is recycled again.
