<p>EP--45263 A The shock absorber for a vehicle suspension system has a cylinder, closed at the bottom and with a plug at the top, through which passes a piston rod (4). Attached to the rod is a piston (22) which in its lowest position is pushed into a hollow cavity (24) in a free piston (15) at the bottom, pushing it downwards against a gas cushion (16). This piston (22) is an auxiliary piston, mounted on an extension of the main part of the piston rod which carries the main part of the piston (6), controlling the flow of oil from an upper part (13) to a lower part (14). - Part of the oil in this lower region is also circulated through a channel (26) in the free piston, holding a ball valve (27) controlling discharge from the region inside the cavity in the free piston. The main piston also incorporates a system of channels controlling the oil flow between the chambers. (2)</p> |
