The disclosure teaches a knitted textile material produced by a Rochelle knitting machine, and a novel Jet-up step in the production process. The material includes a plurality of longitudinally extending spaced stitching threads, and a plurality of multi-gauge fill yarns extending longitudinally between the stitching threads. In accordance with the invention, the spacing between the stitching thread is variable. Heavy gauge yarns are enclosed by widely spaced stitching threads while light gauge yarns are enclosed by closely spaced stitching threads.
