<p>Stable aqueous dispersions which are useful as one-shot sizing agents for paper, i.e. which do not require the separate addition of a flocculating agent, are prepared by combining a rosin dispersion, aluminum sulfate, and an alkali in a prescribed manner. The dispersions may also contain an added stabilizer such as a starch derivative, hydroxyethyl cellulose, or polyvinyl pyrrolidone if desired. These compositions can be used for either internal or external sizing.</p> |
