PURPOSE:To make it possible to interrupt the finishing operation without stopping the leveller thereby to eliminate the occurrence of slip marks by moving a sheet through the leveller rolls at a very low speed and also by converting the amount of its travel into the size of a loop. CONSTITUTION:A low-speed motor 23 is provided in parallel with a high-speed motor 21. The rotary shaft of said low-speed motor extends to one end of a clutch 27 via a one-way clutch and the other end of the clutch unit is connected to the high-speed motor shaft on which a brake unit 29 and a pulley 31 are supported. The pulley 31 is linked with a pulley 41 by means of a belt 43 and the rotating shaft of the pulley 41 is connected to the upper and lower rolls 33, 35 via a cam waltz 39. When the clutch 27 is engaged, the upper and lower rolls 33, 35 are driven through the one-way clutch 25 at the rotational speed of the high-speed motor 21 or that of the low-speed motor 23, whichever higher. |
