PURPOSE:To obtain the outer appearance with soft surface roughness by a method wherein chaffs or spalled chaffs are employed as shots capable of forming linear indentation in contrast with spherical indentation in the surface treatment of metal surface of the like by scratching fine flaws and the like. CONSTITUTION:When the shot blasting used with spalled chaffs as shots is applied to metal surface or the like, the linear convex part in a shot-blasted surface with linear shallow indentation is faster dissolved in electrolysis that the part in conventional shot-blasted surface with spherical indentation in case that the formation of semi-glossy surface is intended by electrolytic polishing after shot blasting. Consequently, the surface having somewhat glossier outer appearance than that of the surface treated with spherical shots can be obtained as for the surface with surface gloss. Moreover, chaffs as they are and spalled chaffs are equally available. The shot blasting performed for about 30sec with chaffs containing one-fourth of spalled chaffs, for example, produces the surface having nearly same state of shot-blasted surface or soft surface roughness as that which can be conventionally obtained by the shot blasting with spherical glass shots for 30sec. |
