PURPOSE:To save power in conrolling of a capacity of an air conditioner of an automobile or so by varying a controlling value of cooling air temperature of an evaporator in association with a temperature control member and varying a capacity of a compressor in comparison with a variable associated with a cooling level of the evaporator. CONSTITUTION:When a temperature detected by a sensor 14 stands within a range of set temperatures, electric feeding of a compressor 12 for a motor 17 is shut off to maintain the positions of variable rings 129, 130 so that the compressor is driven under a certain capacity. When cooling operation is executed to the full with an air mix damper 9 having the minimum opening, a value of a variable resistance interlocking therewith rises to the maximum while the capacity of the compressor rises to the maximum on account of the operating characteristics of a control circuit. Thereby, a temperature of air just behind an evaporator is set at a lowest one at which freezing will not occur. When the opening is then increased, the capacity of the compressor is gradually reduced and the temperature of the cooling air is successively set at higher levels. By reducing the capacity of the compressor in association with increase of opening of the damper 9, unnecessary cooling will not be performed at the evaporator and a power for driving the compressor may be reduced. |
