PURPOSE:To shorten the histogram generation time and reduce a required storage capacity, by generating histograms in horizontal and vertical directions successively while inputting binary picture data. CONSTITUTION:A number of picture elements in the direction (x) of binary picture data is written in addresses in the direction (y) of the first memory in every one horizontal scanning to generate histograms in the direction (y). An adding circuit 10 adds binary picture data Dv inputted from a binary circuit 2 and data read out from every address in the direcion (x) of the second memory 11 and outputs resultant data to the second memory 11. The second memory 11 uses count data of the second counter 7 as address data in the direcion (x) to output data, which is written in the address beforehand, to the adding circut 10 and writes new addiion data from the adding circuit 10 to generate histograms in the direction (x). |
