PURPOSE:To perform highly accurate intake air flow flow detection, by selecting the output of a corresponding potentiometer in response to the amount of the intake air flow, and decreasing the relative errors at the time of air flow detection and the relative resolution of A/D conversion. CONSTITUTION:When the intake air flow is judged 34 to be large in response to a rotary speed 30 and a throttle valve opening opening degree 32 which can equivallently represent the intake air flow, the output voltage on the side of a slider 20 is selected. When the intake air flow is small, the output on the side of a slider 18 is selected. Said voltage is converted 28 from the analog values to the digital values, and the final detected value of the intake air flow is obtained. The sliders 18 and 20 have different full scale ratios with respect to a specified angular displacement of a measuring plate 10, and generate the voltages having the different voltage values. Therefore, the relative differences of the potentiometer 28 with respect to the same intake air flow have the different values. By selecting the slider output voltage having the smaller relative error, the highly accurate measurement of the intake air flow can be performed. |
