Method of forming bladed food cutter - uses star shape blank with legs folded twice through right angle in opposite directions

Method of manufacturing a food cutter wheel uses a rigid sheet of metal or plastic, to fabricate a bladed screw (2). Cutting produces a star-shaped piece with a leg (3,4,5) for each blade, each leg then being folded forward through a right angle about its junction (3a,4a,5a) with the node area (7). The latter area has the shape of a regular polygon with a side for each blade, each leg now being folded through a further right angle in the opposite direction. The two fold lines (4a,4b etc.) on each leg subtend an angle equal to the angle of incidence of the screw and may meet on a leg edge, the angle applied to the second folds being acute or obtuse depending on whether converging or diverging flow is required.
