PURPOSE:To remarkably reduce the size, by forming a frustum of cone that a smaller frustum area of the frustum of cone contacts with a strip conductor and a larger frustum area contacts with a waveguide surface. CONSTITUTION:A height(h') of a ridge type mode converter 15 is a difference between the height of a waveguide and a thickness(t) of a strip line 9 and the converter 15 is made of a half-cut frustum of circular coneshaped metallic block. A frustum area 16, larger area of the half-cut frustum of circular cone is almost equal in the major axis to the width of the waveguide and the major axis of a smaller frustum area 17 is almos equal to the width of a strip conductor 11. The frustum surface 16 electrically contacts with the waveguide surface opposing to the conductor 11. A slope surface of the frustum of cone is placed to the output side of the waveguide with a slope and the line 9 is fitted with a microwave oscillation circuit 8. With the construction like this, the size of the mode converter can be reduced remarkably and the frequency range can be widened. |
