PURPOSE:To repair the titled tuyere at a high temperature, without detaching an old tuyere pipe from a furnace bottom, by handling the eroded old tuyere pipe as an insert hole for a new tuyere pipe, spreading amorphous refractory material over the periphery of the new tuyere pipe projecting above the old tuyere pipe, and drying and caking the amorphous refractory material. CONSTITUTION:A tuyere pipe 11 and a firebrick 12, which have been eroded by blowing inert gas into molten steel in a furnace to refine the molten steel, are repaired as follows: To the tuyere pipe 11, from which a plate 20 is detached, is inserted a new tuyere pipe 21 having diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter D11 of the former tuyere pipe 11. The pipe 21 is fixed to the pipe 11 through flanges 19, 22. Amorphous refractory material 23 is spread over the periphery of the pipe 21 projecting above the pipe 11, i.e. the eroded firebrick 13, up to thickness until the top opening of the pipe 21 is exposed. The refractory material 23 is then dried and caked. According to this method, the tuyere can be repeatedly repaired and regenerated. Since repairing can be done at a high temperature, repairing work is speedy and simple. In its turn, the working ratio of the converter can be raised. |
