PURPOSE:To obtain a coated tool part excellent in the abrasion resistance and the resistance to plastic deformation, by coating a substrate consisting of a cemented carbide or the like whose outer surface is hardened with an inner layer comprising a composite phase of a hard phase and a metal sulfide and an outer layer comprising a hard phase. CONSTITUTION:Outer surface constituents in the powder form are, for example, sprayed onto a press molded item, and then sintered, so that the outer surface is formed on the substrate comprising a cemented carbide or a cermet, which outer surface has a thickness of 2-40mum, and a binding phase content 10- 80vol.% less than that of the substrate and/or a Vickers hardness of 10-50% of that of the substrate. The composite phase of a metal sulfide and a hard phase consisting of one or more of Al2O3, carbides of metals of Groups 4a, 5a and 6a, etc. is formed as the coated inner layer on the substrate by vapor deposition method, etc., and then the outer layer having the same composition as that of said hard phase is further formed thereon to obtain a tool part suitable as a cutting tool or the like. |
