The control device has a flow control valve (15) capable of directing the pressure medium to an accumulator (30) or to a load. At the flow control valve, a stream of control oil is directed via a channel (31) to a pressure reducing/brake valve (D), which serves, for example, for actuating a trailer brake. If an input brake pressure is produced, the control flow is shut off by a spool (49) of the brake valve, whereupon a switching pressure is built up which lifts the valve element (38) from its seat. Pressure medium can now flow out of the accumulator (30) to the braking device. After the removal of the brake pressure, the spool reestablishes communication with the return and the valve element comes to rest on its seat. Using such an arrangement, the input pressure is very largely proportional to the output pressure, i.e. the hysteresis of the brake system remains low. <IMAGE>
