The insulating cover for a plant bed comprises a series of inflatable tubular sleeves which are joined together longitudinally. Reinforcing wires are incorporated in the parallel seam lines to stiffen the structure. Warm air is blown into the ends of the tubes through inlet openings to inflate the cover. The reinforcing strips have pairs of holes spaced along their lengths to permit the passage of loops of wire by which the cover is suspended. The cover is made by an extrusion process with the tubular sleeves being thermo-welded and the reinforcing strip being inserted in a continuous process.
