The method for warning against enemy laser radiation (16, 16') and the device for this purpose are used for protecting friendly (one's own) weapon systems which are fitted with a warning sensor arrangement (17). This arrangement is integrated with a laser receiver (8) which is located on the optical axis (14) of the sight and, together therewith, forms a common input objective lens (9). Arranged in front of the receiver diode (11) is a perforated aperture (10) having a central aperture opening (15) which is surrounded on its side facing the incident radiation by the sensor arrangement so that external radiation (16, 16') which is incident from any angle, or radiation (13) which has previously been emitted by one's own laser transmitter and has been reflected by the target is recorded (detected). The device needs to be aligned only coarsely for this purpose in order to be able to react "with lightning speed" in the event of (visible or invisible) illumination, resulting from an enemy attack, by precisely aiming the weapon system and subsequently carrying out one's own laser range measurement (laser rangefinding), marking the most threatening enemy, firing ammunition or producing radiation which is hazardous to enemy gunners. <IMAGE>
