The orientation table, particulary the orientation map, preferably to find one's way in a town, is comprised of a front panel presenting at least diagrammatically the map of the area concerned, a rear panel showing objects looked for, as well as of a middle panel provided with signs on both sides. The middle panel is movably housed between the other two panels fixed together, those other two panels having windows, and appropriately perforations at a spaced position. The graphic process allows to prepare the project of the orientation map. This is effected by housing the middle panel rotating on a peg fixed to the other two panels, the objects looked for on the rear panel being enumerated on a single straight line, whereas the objects looked for on the front panel are arranged along preferred directions given by the vertical axis system and/or along concentric circles of the deformed map. The essence of the process allowing to prepare the map project is characterized in that on the at least schematized map of the area or territory concerned, the position and/or the form of characteristic points and/or lines are transformed along preferred directions of the axis and/or concentric circles system. The position of the objects looked for is then designated, and possibly a portion of those objects is surrounded and that portion is enlarged with respect to the whole map, and finally the whole map is transformed again. |
