The invention relates to a device for actuating the valves of the pressure medium-operated motors of a train of an underground railway, suspended railway, suspended conveyor or floor-mounted conveyor, the train having a shunting vehicle which is provided with a travel drive and one or more further vehicles provided with motor-operated lifting devices. Here, on at least one of these vehicles a receiving device is arranged which is connected by means of electrical lines to the valves of the travel drive and the valves of the lifting device of one or more further vehicles. The receiving device is constructed to receive encoded infrared light signals and a control device which is independent of the receiving device and has the purpose of transmitting these coded infrared light signals is provided. With the aid of this control device, the operator can control both the lifting devices and the travel drives from one point at which he has such a good view that at any time he can determine whether obstacles or persons at risk are located in the vehicle.
