In a plug housing insert, the optical fibre is centered with respect to the outer guide diameter on the outlet section adjacent to the parting plane by means of an injection-moulded sealing (setting) compound. Use is made for production purposes of a moulding device which has a die (26) for inserting the plug housing insert true to size. The die has an exactly concentric centering bore (38) on the base of the guiding blind bore (28). A mould core tip (34) can be inserted into said centering bore and forms in its section projecting over the parting plane the mould core for a fibre insert hole into which the fibre can be threaded later from behind. In the exemplary embodiments in accordance with Figs. 3 and 4, the optical fibre (12) is moulded in situ, being inserted into the centering bore (38) of the die (26). In this case, a centering body (50) can surround the fibre at the outlet end. <IMAGE>
