Such insulation is generally laid in the form of strips or sheets. These strips or sheets comprise a layer of mineral wool, in particular rock wool, to be laid on the roof surface. Such insulations are applied to the building roof as an additional measure or, in the case of old buildings, as a subsequent measure, in order to save energy and, if necessary, also to improve sound insulation. In order to achieve good ageing and weathering resistance on the one hand and non-combustibility and high strength of the insulation on the other hand, whilst enabling simple manufacture and laying at the same time, it is proposed that the layer should consist of lamellae arranged adjacent to one another, in which the mineral fibres essentially run vertically to the roof surface, and that a roof skin should be applied to the upper side of the layer, the edge of which skin projects beyond the layer on at least one side on the uninstalled strips or sheets.
