A method for producing a film resistor as a measurement resistor for a resistance thermometer, in the case of which a thin platinum resistance film (2) is applied by cathode sputtering onto a main surface of an electrically insulating carrier body (substrate) (10) which is in the form of a platelet, and said resistance film (2) is tempered. In this case, the resistance film (2) is structured in the form of a meandering track (24), by means of a laser beam, in such a manner that the individual turns, or some of the turns, of the meandering resistance track (24) each have a shunt path (23), and the shunt paths (23) are cut off after the resistance film (2) has been tempered until the desired resistance value is achieved. <IMAGE>
