PURPOSE:To realize the automatic storage of the normal sheet and the automatic sorting of the abnormal sheet in case a jam is detected at the downstream of a fixing device during the use of a sorter, by feeding the recorded sheet to the sorter and sending the sheet at the upstream of the fixing device to a discharge tray respectively. CONSTITUTION:The sheet sent from a fixing device 6 is sent to the 1st and 2nd sorters 9 and 10 or a tray 8 via a changeover guide 7. The carriage before and after the device 6 is divided to the 1st and 2nd driving parts to be driven individually. If a jam occurs at the downstream of the device 6, the operations of both driving parts are discontinued to perform a treatment for the jam. Then a copy button is pushed to feed the copies at the upstream of the device 6 to the sorter through the 2nd driving part. The copy fed to the sorter is detected by a sensor 25. Then the guide 7 is switched, and the copies at the upstream of the device 6 are discharged to the tray 8 and detected by a sensor 24. Thus the guide 7 is switched again to automatically restart the copying process. In such way, the storage of the normal sheet and the sorting of the abnormal sheet can be carried out automatically. |
