The invention relates to an arrangement for classifying rod-like elements, in particular parquet pins, having an advancing line for moving the elements transversely with respect to their longitudinal axis and with pneumatic actuating elements for sorting out individual elements according to predetermined specifications. The advancing line has one or more transversely directed lower outlet openings for the rod-like elements. Each outlet opening is assigned preferably two pneumatic actuating elements, specifically one on each side, each of which has a lower and an upper air outlet. The respective lower air outlet is aligned from below with a vertical component towards the outlet opening. Each of the two upper air outlets is preferably aligned from above essentially vertically towards the outlet opening. The two air outlets on each side of the outlet opening merely have to be set alternately to open. As a result a rod-like element can only drop down through the outlet opening when the respective lower air outlets are not fed with compressed air while the respective upper air outlets are fed and the element accelerates downwards. If, on the other hand, the two lower air outlets are fed with compressed air, the two upper air outlets are not fed so that it is not possible for a rod-like element to drop out of the outlet opening but instead it is conveyed onwards to the next outlet opening or to the end of the feed line.
