The pneumatic post stations (7 to 10 and 12 to 17) are located in a travelling pipe (1). A separator store (2 and 18 respectively) is arranged upstream of the station (7) and between the stations (13 and 14). When operation recommences after any fault in the operation of the pneumatic post system, the pneumatic post canisters (3 to 6) located upstream of the separator store (2) in the direction of travel are fed to this separator store (2) from which they are again inserted into the travel pipe in the intended order and making allowance for the necessary spacings and destination data. <IMAGE>
