The heating boiler is intended for the combustion of especially pressed straw bales. It consists of a combustion chamber with a fuel-feed orifice, of an ash-fall collecting chamber arranged under the combustion chamber, and of a follow-up heating surface located after the combustion chamber and having a smoke-gas outlet. The bottom of the combustion chamber is provided with at least one ash-fall and primary-air slot extending along the rear wall of the combustion chamber and leading to the ash-fall collecting chamber. At least one ash-stripping element movable in front of the burn-up zone is arranged above the slot in the region near the rear wall of the combustion chamber and likewise opposite the fuel-feed orifice. For the combustion of straw bales, the ash-fall and primary-air slot (7) is widened centrally into the fire-space bottom by means of a slot (7') directed towards the fuel-feed device and extending under the ash-stripping element (9). The flank regions (19) of the fire-space bottom next to the slot (7') are curved concavely downwards in relation to the fire-space bottom (3) which is plane in front of the slot. <IMAGE>
